ID Released For CT Woman Hit, Killed By Box Truck Operated By Fairfield County Man

Police have released the identity of a woman killed after being hit by a vehicle.

Maria Luisa Morales, age 55, of New Haven, was struck by a box truck on Thursday, March 18, in New Haven, authorities said.

The crash happened about 5:40 p.m., Thursday, on the corner of Temple Street at Chapel Street when Morales began to cross the roadway when she was hit by a commercial delivery box truck traveling eastbound on Chapel Street, said Captain Anthony Duff of the New Haven Police Department.

The truck, operated by a 31-year-old Bridgeport man, continued to travel on Temple Street. Officers located the truck on George Street. 

The truck operator is cooperating with the investigation.

At the crash scene, emergency medical responders pronounced Morales dead at the scene. 

The accident remains under investigation by the NHPD Accident Reconstruction Team. Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to contact the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6316.
